The Edison Poem, by Fred Wilder (c) 2011

The orange glow of a wire bent,
Trapped in a bottle, glass void the atmosphere Extinguish the dark day spent.
Creatures of the night have we all become.
Electric light is the spell brung. The Wizard of Menlo park released the nocturnal yearnings of the species Human. Once bound in chains forged in superstition of a setting sun, now freed by the amber flow Edison's magic bottles delivered us one by one.

Anakin's Assignment @ Atom.com Star Wars film challenge

The Candy Wilder film short Anakin's Assignment has been uploaded to Atom Films as our official entry for this year's Atom.com Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge. Two years in the making and our most technically complex film project to date. With both mechanical effects and CGI. I scratch built the mechanism to move the model cars through the model city and rewired a 1980's kid's toy computer (The Pineapple 5K) to control the action and everything worked like a charm. My wife Candy and I worked like dogs building and painting everything you see in the film. From Millie's apartment to the restaurant, and the model city and cars. Many of the props and scenery are constructed from paper mache` and others like the light saber were made to be screen accurate with the Lucas films. After taking ill and being bed ridden for about three months at the first of 2011 I had only a week to build the Yoda puppet and drew on my Bunraku experience to complete him in time. We created a lot of 2D and Go-motion animation in this film giving the picture a unique universe for our players to inhabit.
This 22 minute film features Jack Ritchie as the ghost of Anakin Skywalker, assigned to assist irrepressible college girl Millie Bjorklund (Courtney Knight). Acting as her 'big brother,' he clashes with Millie frequently, especially concerning her wretched boyfriend Alan (Steffan Muntsinger.) This film has Comedy, Intrigue, an epic battle of Good versus Evil, unique special effects, an animated model city with nifty cars, and of course lots of Star Wars stuff!

Please help us spread the word and share this LINK with all of your friends.

Sink the Bismarck!

You can see Fred's penis in Germany all summer long. I am participating with a group of fellow artists this summer to knock the roof off of the Bismarck museum and paint the town red.
Well at least it may seem that way to the locals as this is a quite town with a population of older more conservative people. But the art showing should prove to be a bit provocative for the museum visitors as well. The show will last from 27th of May till 18th of September 2011 and will take place in the Museum Obere Saline, the original home of Otto von Bismarck while he was living in the town.

My contribution to the Otto von Bismarck themed show is of course a large wooden penis painted bright yellow and plastered with fine examples of ephemera from American high culture (Der Wienerschnitzel hot dog wrappers). This is part of an ongoing series of penis art I am creating, the first example was ceremoniously burned last year by Christine Tarantino in Wendell Massachusetts, during her fluxus happening Wood You Rock Me at Three? An art video of the event is available on DVD. The Second Penis artwork was painted purple and equipped with an hydraulic line to permit whipped cream to pass through the end of the penis during the filming of a scene in my art film Das Puppets. In this scene a near naked Mama Baer is dossed with tons of whipped cream before the Friends of FUZZ lick it off of her bear flesh.

Open Mon-Sat 9am-6pm

Fred Wilder's Pocket Full of Film DVD release.

Pocket Full of Film, a collection of Fred Wilder film shorts is now available on DVD. Of the film shorts selected there are two directed by my wife Candy Wilder. The Ginger Bear, and Label Horrors were both student film projects shot while she worked on her film degree at CSUF. These two films were shot on 16mm film with Arriflex cameras and then edited digitally on the computer. Candy also operated the camera and loaded the film stock herself. Label Horrors was her directorial debut. I did everything else from set design and construction to writing the stories, costume making and lighting so the films are a true collaboration.
We are currently working together on the film project Das Puppets and looking for a late 2011 release date with this film.

Fred Wilder's Pocket Full of Film, the DVD contains seventeen weird and wonderful film shorts all on one DVD. The film titles in this collection are:
Spleen of St. Louis, Label Horrors, Vampire Flesh a poem, ZomBEES, Scream KARL, KARL Bites, Aggrific, Ginger Bear, Scheide und Kraut, and The SEX SOCKS Jam Session at Studio FUZZ.
Also included are the first 8 Flux films from The BUBBLES PIECE series Numbers 1 through 8.

The Poetry of Filth

A new book of wickedly strange and beautiful poetry written by Fred Wilder is now available online. This is the first of several new releases from Wilder planned for 2011.

It's been only chap books for quite some time and these were scarce selling at odd art cafes and museum gift shops. So it is very nice to find a collection of my poems in a professionally created pocket book. Some of the poems are old favorites of mine dating back 20 years or so and there are many new dark and twisted poems that were crafted for The Poetry of Filth.
